The Flipped Classroom
My classroom is a flipped classroom. This is not a traditional classroom, so be aware. My students will be watching videos that will be used as the direct instruction portion of class. This may be viewed on any device that can connect to the internet and has a web-browser. This will be assigned periodically as homework. Meanwhile, the time spent in school can be used for students to demonstrate their knowledge and skills in the content area. This includes: projects, demonstrations, technology, primary source reading, and other meaningful experiences. Through my research and experience, this works because students are engaged and are able to work at their own pace. They are encouraged to learn how to socialize appropriately with their peers and their teachers. Problem-solving, communication, self-discipline, and respect is taught through doing rather than telling. If there are any questions, please feel at any time to send me an email by using the form below (or as we say in the doobly-do). Mr. R. Ayala 2013 |
